Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers to what South Florida homeowners ask us most. If your question is not here, text us and we will answer it.
Getting started and pricing
Will I know the price before the work starts?
Yes. Your technician confirms the final price before any work begins. You see it, you approve it, you pay that price. If we find something on site that changes it, we show you first, and nothing is added without your approval.
Is the free check really free?
Yes. Every visit starts with a free Whole-Home Air & Attic Check, with no pressure to book. It covers your ducts, airflow, AC coil, signs of mold and the attic when needed.
Do you offer discounts?
Sometimes. When we do, we tell you exactly what it is, who qualifies and when it ends.
How do I pay?
Payment is due when the job is done. We confirm accepted payment methods when you book.
How do I book?
Text us, call us or send the short form to book your free check. We confirm the details and a time that works for you.
The visit and the work
How long does a duct cleaning take?
Most single-system homes take 2 to 4 hours. Larger homes or multiple systems take longer, and we’ll tell you when you book.
Do I need to be home?
An adult needs to be home to open the door and see what we find. We’ll need access to every register, the air handler and, for insulation, the attic.
Is it messy?
No. Our HEPA-filtered negative-pressure vacuum keeps your ducts under suction, so loosened dust is collected, not blown into your home. We cover floors and furniture near our work and clean up before we leave.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Every technician is a Blue Pelican employee.
How do I know the work was actually done?
Wherever your system allows it, we start with a camera look inside, and we show you what we see. When we finish, we show you the result, with photos whenever possible.
What products do you use?
We finish with a botanical product made with thyme oil, with no harsh chemicals.
Do you check for mold?
Musty smell or mold worries? We check for signs of mold as part of every free Whole-Home Air & Attic Check, and we show you what we find.
Air ducts
How often should I clean my air ducts?
Every 3 to 5 years for most homes; sooner with pets, allergies, a recent renovation or a move. Dryer vents should be cleaned once a year.
What equipment do you use?
Rotary brushes loosen the buildup, and a HEPA-filtered negative-pressure vacuum keeps your ducts under suction and removes it from your home, so nothing drifts back into your rooms. We clean every duct and vent in your home, then check the airflow before we leave.
Will duct cleaning fix my allergies?
We cannot promise health outcomes. Duct cleaning removes accumulated dust and debris from accessible parts of the system, which can help reduce dust in the air. Results vary with system age, condition and access.
Dryer vents
How often should I clean my dryer vent?
Once a year. Lint buildup is a fire hazard, and a yearly cleaning removes it, so your dryer dries faster and uses less energy. If clothes take more than one cycle to dry, or the dryer or laundry room feels hot, book sooner.
Can you clean rooftop dryer vents?
Yes. Rooftop vents are common in South Florida, and we clean them as part of the service, including removing blockages such as bird nests.
UV air purification
What does a UV light in my air handler do?
It helps keep the coil and drain pan cleaner, which matters in South Florida where humidity builds up inside AC systems. It is an added layer of care, not a replacement for filters or duct cleaning.
Attic insulation
Will attic insulation lower my power bill?
It can help by reducing heat gain and strain on your AC. We do not guarantee specific savings, which vary with the home and the system. We check your attic first and show you what you have before you decide.
Do you add insulation on top of what I have?
Yes, or we replace it if it is in poor condition. We use blown-in insulation and our own crew installs it.
Scheduling, language and service area
What areas do you serve?
We serve 28 cities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, from Jupiter to Kendall, from our base in Margate.
What are your hours?
Mon to Fri, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday by appointment. Same-day visits when our schedule allows.
Can I book in Spanish?
Yes. You can text us or send the short form in Spanish.
